Our Team
The strength of Sparrow Research Group lies in our multidisciplinary team. Sparrow Research team members have been trained at leading research institutions and offer expertise spanning the full range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Teams are assembled on a project by project basis depending upon the types of expertise required. We can undertake the entire spectrum of a project, or work only on the specific research and evaluation elements for which you require additional expertise.

Dr. Jill Fromewick, Sc.D., M.S.

Dr Jill Fromewick Dr. Jill Fromewick, Sc.D., M.S., leads Sparrow Research Group with over a decade of domestic and international public health experience. A social epidemiologist by training, Dr. Fromewick maintains a dual focus on quantitative and qualitative methods, and has conducted research on a broad range of public health topics for academic institutions, non-profit organizations, and state government institutions.
Most recently, she has served as a principle investigator on research projects on the health impacts of state and local social policies, state differences in the implementation of disability policy, racial and socioeconomic disparities in child health, and the impacts of television viewing on children. Dr. Fromewick specializes in the practical application of research findings and the translation of research into materials for diverse audiences, and has presented and published her research in academic journals, at professional conferences and in various formats for practitioners and the public.

Dr. Fromewick combines her analytic skills with extensive experience in community outreach and education, program planning and evaluation. She has worked as an employee and lead consultant on projects with state and local government agencies, non-profit organizations and international NGOs throughout the United States and in Southeast Asia. She also teaches evaluation, including as an instructor for Duke University Nonprofit Management Program's Fundamentals in Evaluation course.

Dr. Fromewick holds Masters and Doctor of Science degrees from Harvard School of Public Health's Department of Society, Human Development and Health with concentrations in Social Epidemiology, Social Policy, and Analytic Methods. She resides in Asheville, North Carolina and is an active member of her community, currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Asheville-Buncombe Community Relations Council (ABCRC) and the Asheville-Buncombe Institute of Parity Achievement (ABIPA), Children First of Buncombe County's Advocacy Committee and the Steering Committee of Health Partners' Health Equity Team.
